SUMMARY

The Cloud Operations Engineer will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing cloud-based infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and security. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to maintain and improve cloud environments, automate processes, and troubleshoot issues in real time. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, along with expertise in automation, monitoring, and security best practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deploy, configure, and manage cloud infrastructure in AWS, Azure to ensure high availability and performance.

• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to automate cloud deployments.

• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues, and respond to incidents using tools like Datadog, Prometheus, or AWS CloudWatch.

• Optimize cloud costs and resources by analyzing usage patterns and implementing best practices for cost efficiency.

• Ensure security and compliance of cloud environments by following industry standards such as HIPAA, NIST, and HITRUST.

• Support CI/CD pipelines by working with DevOps teams to integrate automation and streamline cloud deployments.

• Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions.

• Collaborate with security teams to apply access controls, encryption, and other security measures.

• Document processes, configurations, and best practices for cloud operations and knowledge sharing.

• Stay up to date with emerging cloud technologies and recommend improvements to the cloud infrastructure.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required (may be willing to substitute directly-applicable work experience in lieu of a four-year degree).
• Minimal 3 years of experience working in cloud operations, system administration, or DevOps is required.
• Cloud Expertise: Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure infrastructure and services.
• Automation & IaC: Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or equivalent tools.
• Monitoring & Incident Response: Experience with Datadog, Prometheus, AWS CloudWatch, or similar tools.
• Scripting & Automation: Strong skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and troubleshooting.
• Networking: Solid understanding of VPCs, firewalls, VPNs, and cloud networking concepts.
• Security & Compliance: Knowledge of cloud security principles, IAM, encryption, and compliance frameworks like HIPAA and NIST.
• Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or Google Cloud Certified: Associate Cloud Engineer
