Cold Weather Shelter Attendant
JOB SUMMARY
TVCCA’s Cold Weather Shelter Attendants are responsible for overseeing, managing, and otherwise running the Governor’s No-Freeze Shelter in the City of Norwich when the Severe Cold Weather Protocol is activated. At the direction of the Project Manager for the Eastern CT Coordinated Access Network, this position will work closely with a second attendant to set up the shelter, ensure that all policies are followed by all staff and shelter attendees for the duration of the shelter’s opening, and clean-up after the shelter closes each morning. This role involves cultivating relationships with other employees and shelter attendees, managing multiple priorities at once, and ensuring the safety of all shelter attendees.
The position is per diem - working 12 hour shifts at $30 per hour
Required Skills
** QUALIFICATIONS:**
At least two years of combined education and experience in the areas of social work, mental health provision, substance abuse counseling, community action, or any other related field. Proven ability to verbally communicate in an effective manner, exercise clear decision-making abilities and empathy, and an ability to work effectively in partnership with other providers and attendants.
