    Summary:

    The Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) at the D’Youville University - College of Osteopathic Medicine, proposed is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and highly motivated clinical faculty member. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, supervising, and mentoring medical students in both clinical and laboratory settings, with a focus on Osteopathic Principles and Practice (OPP), including Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT). Additionally, the position involves contributing to the academic and clinical missions of the department and college, including patient care, research, and community service. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual passionate about education, patient care, and advancing the principles of osteopathic medicine.

    Note: There are currently two openings for this position.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide high-quality instruction in osteopathic principles and practices, including Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), to medical students in didactic, clinical, and laboratory settings.
    • Develop and deliver educational content related to osteopathic medicine, including lectures, small-group discussions, and hands-on clinical training.
    • Supervise and mentor medical students in the clinical setting, ensuring they gain proficiency in OMT techniques and the integration of osteopathic principles into patient care.
    • Assess and evaluate student performance, providing timely and constructive feedback.
    • Participate in curriculum development and refinement to ensure high standards of osteopathic education.
    • Contribute to the advancement of osteopathic medicine through clinical research, scholarship, and academic publications.
    • Participate in faculty research projects, mentoring students in research endeavors, and encouraging student involvement in scholarly activities.
    • Stay current with the latest developments in osteopathic medicine and OMM, ensuring that teaching and clinical practices are informed by the most up-to-date evidence.
    • Participate in departmental, institutional, and professional committee work.
    • Contribute to institutional initiatives and engage in community service related to osteopathic education and healthcare.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and professional growth within the department and the broader academic community.
    • Engage in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with advancements in osteopathic medicine and medical education.
    • Attend relevant conferences, seminars, and workshops, and engage with professional organizations related to osteopathic medicine.

    Qualifications Required

    • D.O. with Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited osteopathic medical school.
    • Teaching experience and expertise in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.
    • Skills:
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work on various multidisciplinary teams.
    • Proficiency in data analysis, performance metrics and quality improvement.
    • Skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
    • Ability to develop and maintain evaluation and development procedures.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the academic departments and their individual courses offered.
    • Ability to identify problems, develop solutions and implement change.

    Computer Skills

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Including Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook

    Physical and Environmental Requirements

    • Mental/Visual Demand and Physical Effort.
    • For a normal office environment, you must be able to lift 50lbs from floor level.
    • Must be able to lift and maneuver normal size full file box for archival purposes.
    • Must be able to occasionally bend, twist, and stoop.
    • Frequent typing of computer keyboard.
    • Must be able to operate standard office equipment such as computer, mobile device, phone, copier, scanner, printer, or related items.
    • May be called upon to work beyond the normal workday.
    • Must have good personal hygiene and adhere to corporate dress policy (business casual).
