    Job Overview:
    JARBO is working with a client in Kansas City who is a leading provider of high-quality fabrication, welding, and mechanical services for various industries in the commercial and industrial sectors.     Position Summary:
    A Combo Welder is a versatile, skilled tradesperson proficient in multiple welding techniques, including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), Stick (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and sometimes Flux-Core welding. This position involves the ability to work with various metals like steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and sometimes copper, for the fabrication, assembly, and repair of metal components. The combo welder is expected to perform welding tasks on different types of materials, often switching between different welding methods based on the project requirements. They must possess strong knowledge of welding safety standards, interpret blueprints and technical drawings, and be able to use hand tools and welding machines proficiently.


    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Welding & Fabrication:
      • Perform welding operations (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core) on various materials, such as steel, stainless steel, copper, and aluminum, to fabricate and repair hydronic system components (pipes, fittings, brackets)
      • Weld parts and components for the installation of hydronic systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings
      • Use appropriate welding techniques for different materials and work environments
    2. Hydronic System Installation:
      • Work with the installation team to lay out, fabricate, and assemble piping for hydronic heating and cooling systems
      • Assist in setting up and installing boilers, radiant heating systems, radiant floor heating, and cooling systems
      • Ensure systems are correctly aligned, tested, and ready for pressure testing
    3. Blueprint Reading & Layout:
      • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and system schematics to plan and layout welding and piping work
      • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members to ensure accurate installation according to plans
    4. Safety & Compliance:
      • Follow safety protocols, including proper handling of equipment, wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and ensuring that welding and installation meet all regulatory standards
      • Adhere to building codes, regulations, and safety standards related to hydronic systems
      • Perform pressure tests to check for leaks and ensure system integrity
    5. Maintenance & Repairs:
      • Inspect and assess existing hydronic systems for wear, corrosion, or damage.
      • Carry out maintenance work, including repairing and replacing piping and components as necessary
      • Troubleshoot issues in hydronic systems, including leaks, faulty valves, or malfunctioning components
    6. Team Collaboration & Communication:
      • Work closely with other welders, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and engineers to ensure the successful completion of projects
      • Communicate effectively to understand job requirements, project progress, and any potential issues
      • Document work completed and report any issues to supervisors on time.
    7. Equipment Handling:
      • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and other machinery used for the installation and repair of hydronic systems
      • Ensure all equipment is operating efficiently and safely
    8. Training & Development:
      • Stay up to date with the latest welding technologies, hydronic system installation techniques, and industry best practices
      • Participate in any required training or certification programs to enhance your skill set

    Qualifications:

    • Education & Training:
      • High school diploma or equivalent required
      • Completion of a welding apprenticeship program or formal training in welding and hydronic systems is preferred
      • Relevant certifications such as AWS (American Welding Society) certification, or equivalent, may be required
    • Skills & Experience:
      • Proven experience in welding, particularly with a combination of welding methods (MIG, TIG, Stick)
      • Experience with hydronic systems installation, including piping, boilers, heat exchangers, and radiant heating systems
      • Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints and technical diagrams
      • Strong understanding of safety practices and codes in construction and welding environments
    • Physical Requirements:
      • Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs or more)
      • Ability to work in confined or hard-to-reach areas
      • Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures or outdoors

    Work Environment:

    • Construction sites, mechanical rooms, and industrial plants
    • Exposure to heat, fumes, noise, and other welding hazards
    • Use of welding equipment, power tools, and protective gear like helmets, gloves, and boots

    Key Skills:

    • Strong welding techniques and knowledge of various welding methods
    • Knowledge of hydronic system components and installation practices
    • Ability to follow safety procedures and industry regulations
