Position
This position requires traveling and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to deal with stressful situations with resourcefulness and initiative. The ideal candidate is a people-smart leader who will contribute to the process improvement and overall organization of the office. The nature of the work demands maturity, courtesy, tact, professionalism, a sense of urgency, confidentiality, technical skills, and interpersonal skills. The Construction Superintendent will be exposed to every aspect of the construction process and will become a subject matter expert on all construction and emergency services office and team coordination as it applies to them. To accomplish the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily.
Essential Functions
Directs all field staff, subcontractors, materials and activities necessary to successfully complete the assigned project or projects.
Leads the team to produce a quality product on time, within the project budget, complying with safety standards and exceeding customer’s expectations
Manages the overall safety of the job site and relevant surrounding areas and sets the tone for achieving positive safety results on the project
Effectively interprets project plans and specifications
Leads the development of the site logistics including; public and site safety measures, site security, SWPPP, and truck routing, etc.
Ensures that each project is built per the plans, specs, building code, and delivered to the client with the highest level of quality
Effectively creates and maintains schedules relevant to the project. Execute weekly work plan toolset to ensure schedule compliance.
Responsible for communications with subcontractors about onsite date and schedule performance expectations. Elevate to Project Manager when subs are unresponsive.
Take daily photos and perform quality daily reports. Store on the network drive or use the software tool available.
Perform safety and construction inspections as required using systems and processes established
Promotes a team approach and maintains a dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
Facilitates open communication and management of the job site
Establishes and maintains regularly scheduled daily huddles and weekly project team and sub-partner coordination meetings as needed.
Builds and maintains relationships with inspectors, sub-partners, internal stakeholders and clients
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Two or four-year degree in Construction Management preferred or equivalent experience
Minimum 3+ years of direct lead experience in commercial construction and mitigation
Must possess Xactimate experience with commercial construction and mitigation insurance claims
Project sizes range from $300,000 to $10,000,000. These range from tenant improvement to small ground-up construction.
Expert knowledge of the means and methods of construction
Proven track record of successful accomplishment in all phases of supervision
Knowledge of all aspects of construction (MEP, finishes, envelope)
Excellent planning, schedule management, and project site logistics management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Computer knowledge and efficiency, including MS Office and project management software
Demonstrated work ethic and leadership skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Experience managing trades
OSHA 10-hour minimum requirement, Mooring will facilitate 30-hour certification if not already possessed.
