Commercial Irrigation Technician
Location: St. Louis, Missouri (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly
Salary Range: $25–$35 per hour + commission
Position Overview
As a Commercial Irrigation Technician, you will be responsible for servicing and installing irrigation systems, ensuring the systems are functioning effectively and efficiently for our clients. This role requires a strong understanding of irrigation systems, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to maintain positive client relations.

Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Lawn Sprinkler System Installation & Service: Install and service sprinkler systems.
- System Modifications and Upgrades: Modify and upgrade existing systems as needed.
- Timer/Controller and Rain Sensor Installation: Install timers, controllers, and rain sensors to optimize system performance.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and repair issues such as leaks, malfunctioning heads, valves, controllers, and system wiring on various system types.
- Client Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships with clients by offering expert advice and service.
- System Maintenance: Ensure all systems are working efficiently and effectively by performing regular maintenance.
- Physical Demands: Digging, repairing underground sprinkler and drip systems, and installing irrigation components in all weather conditions.
- Effective Communication: Communicate clearly and confidently with clients to address their needs and explain services.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in servicing and installing irrigation systems.
- Skills:
* Troubleshooting wire issues
* Knowledge of plumbing, 2-wire systems, EZ 1 decoder systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
* Strong mechanical ability and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with clients.
* Must be punctual, polite, and confident in customer service interactions.
- Physical Abilities: Able to handle physical demands such as working outdoors in adverse weather, lifting, and extensive walking.
- License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; Backflow license is a plus.
- Communication: Effective communication in English; bilingual is a plus but not required.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
