Position: Commercial RTL Underwriter

Location: Wichita, KS

Salary Range: $80,000 – $120,000 per year

Job Summary:

We're seeking an experienced Commercial RTL Underwriter to evaluate and underwrite real estate transition loans, including ground-up construction, fix-and-flip, and multi-family projects. This role involves assessing borrower creditworthiness, analyzing property values, and ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory standards. You’ll collaborate closely with loan officers, credit analysts, and internal stakeholders to support a smooth loan approval process and effective risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review borrower financials, credit reports, and property appraisals to determine loan eligibility
• Conduct detailed risk assessments and recommend loan terms based on findings
• Ensure underwriting practices align with internal policies and regulatory requirements
• Draft comprehensive loan approval memos and risk assessment documentation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address underwriting issues and facilitate approvals
• Present recommendations to the credit committee and support final decision-making
• Maintain clear communication with borrowers throughout the underwriting process

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field
• 3–5 years of commercial mortgage underwriting experience, with a focus on RTL or similar products
• Proficient in financial analysis and risk assessment techniques
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with industry-standard underwriting software
• Understanding of relevant regulatory compliance requirements
• Certification such as Certified Commercial Underwriter (CCU) is a plus
