The Commercial Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a roofing company's day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient project execution, quality control, safety compliance, and profitability by oversight of crews, oversight of schedule of jobs, oversight coordination of materials, and overseeing communication between the field teams, office staff, and clients, while adhering to company standards and budget constraints; acting as the leader in ensuring smooth and successful roofing projects from start to finish while utilizing the team he has.
Key responsibilities may include:
Project planning and scheduling:
Crew supervision:
Quality control:
Performing random inspections on job sites to verify proper installation techniques, material usage, and adherence to project specifications.
Safety management:
Implementing and enforcing safety protocols of the company and ensuring subordinates are enforcing them on all job sites, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and addressing safety concerns promptly.
Customer communication:
Intervening with clients to discuss project details, address concerns, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle when asked by team members or as needed to ensure quality control.
Cost management:
Tracking labor hours, material usage, and project expenses to optimize profitability and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Contract review and compliance:
Thoroughly reviewing contract documents, ensuring compliance with project specifications, and managing change orders.
Staff development:
Identifying training needs for crew members and providing ongoing development opportunities to enhance their skills.
Reporting and analysis:
Generating reports on project progress, performance metrics, and financial status to inform decision-making.
Required skills and qualifications:
Extensive experience in the roofing industry, including knowledge of various roofing systems and installation techniques.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills to manage crews effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Proficiency in project management tools and software to plan, track, and report on project progress.
Detail-oriented with a focus on quality control and adherence to safety standards.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Understanding of construction contracts and legal requirements related to roofing projects.
