As a Procurement Specialist in the solar industry you will play a crucial role in managing the acquisition of all materials, equipment, and services needed for solar projects. Your job is to ensure that everything required for the successful construction and operation of solar energy systems is sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and on time. You will work closely with the design team to ensure pricing is accurate and up to date. Here’s a breakdown of what you will do:
Sourcing Materials and Equipment: Identify Suppliers: Research and identify suppliers of solar panels, inverters, batteries, racking systems, wiring, and other components necessary for solar installations.
Purchasing and Order Management:
Place Orders: Once the materials and equipment are selected, the Procurement Specialist places orders and manages the purchasing process, ensuring that everything is ordered in the correct quantities and specifications.
Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:
Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all materials and equipment meet industry standards, local regulations, and safety requirements. This is especially important in the solar industry, where quality and safety standards are critical.
Monitor Certifications: Ensure that suppliers provide necessary certifications for products, like warranties or compliance with environmental standards (e.g., UL certification for solar panels)

Risk Management Job Requirements: Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
Certifications in procurement, supply chain, or project management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) are a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on electrical components or solar energy systems.
Previous experience working at or with an electrical supply house or electrical distribution company is essential.
Experience in managing solar equipment and material sourcing, including panels, inverters, racking systems, and electrical components.
Industry Knowledge:
Familiarity with solar energy technologies, industry trends, and best practices in solar project development.
Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and their role in solar energy installations.
Knowledge of electrical codes, standards (NEC, UL), and safety regulations related to solar power systems.
Procurement and Supply Chain Skills
Expertise in negotiating and managing supplier contracts for electrical and solar materials.
Ability to source and secure competitive pricing for solar equipment and electrical components.
Strong vendor management skills, with experience in establishing relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and contractors.
Experience in forecasting and managing supply chain logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials.
