    This is a non-partisan position, and the successful candidate will be expected to remain free from political party affiliation, bias, or designation for the duration of the appointment.

    Salary: $19.71/hour

    Telework: This position will work on-site in Minnesota Senate Building, State Capitol, and Senate Chamber!

    Days of Work/Hours: Monday-Friday/8am-5pm or as needed. This position may have irregular hours during the legislative session, including occasional evening and weekend work.

    Appointment Type: Full-time, Temporary

    Appointment Duration: This position has an anticipated end date of late May 2025.

    Department: Front Desk/Secretary of the Senate

    Reports to: Second Assistant Secretary of the Senate

    Closing Date: This position will be open until all positions have been filled.

    Position Summary

    The Committee Page will assist the Senate Chamber Front Desk and Committees while performing a variety of administrative duties during the legislative session. This position will work closely with the Lead Committee Page and Second Assistant Secretary of the Senate.

    An ideal candidate will have an interest in the legislative process. We seek someone who has a natural ease working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

    In this temporary position, you will not be eligible for health benefits. However, you will be eligible for holiday pay, deferred compensation, our employee assistance program (EAP), staff parking, and Metro Transit options.

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to lift up to 30lbs, stand and sit for long periods of time, and walk between the Minnesota Senate Building, State Office Building, and Capitol.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Associate in arts (AA) degree plus a minimum of two (2) years professional level work experience or a bachelor's degree (BA/BS). A high school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years relevant professional level work experience may be substituted for the associate in arts (AA) degree and/or bachelor's degree (BA/BS) requirement.

    In addition to the qualifications listed above, applicants must demonstrate:

    • Ability to work in a non-partisan capacity, supporting all members and staff regardless of party affiliation or position.
    • Ability to handle sensitive information with tact and diplomacy and maintain confidentiality.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal to effectively communicate with Senate staff and members.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams), Zoom, and other virtual meeting programs.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge and understanding of the legislative process.

    • Time management skills to balance conflicting demands and tasks.
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with legislators, staff, state agency staff, and others.
    • Ability to work independently and with a team.
