    POSITION SUMMARY: The Community College of Aurora (CCA) is a dynamic institution that strives to serve its diverse student population through innovations in instruction and student support founded on principles of equity and inclusivity.     The Academic Program Support Specialist (APSS) provides administrative support for the Colorado Film School staff including the Director, Assistant Director, faculty, instructors and Student Success Coordinator.  The APSS possesses a general knowledge of higher education as well as advanced knowledge of the disciplines and programs within academic departments and applies this knowledge to the department’s operations.  The APSS has the experience to understand the college experience from the student’s point of view and is empowered by the Director to serve students.  The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Mac computer systems, will be an organized self-starter committed to good customer service and a flexible problem solver able to mesh with a dedicated team in a creative environment. The successful candidate will be able to maintain a positive attitude in a potentially stressful environment and be willing to meet new challenges as our organization grows, develops, and adapts on a daily basis. The Colorado Film School is primarily focused on student success and the development of a positive and innovative learning environment in a higher education professional training program.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide students detailed and accurate information about college policies and procedures.

    • Provide students guidance to college resources and departments in support of course and degree completion.

    • Orient new adjunct faculty members to departmental requirements, processes, policies and procedures.

    • Resolve student concerns on behalf of Director.

    • Create well-written and well-designed documents for distribution.

    • Answer questions about the department and its programs.

    • Provide prospective student tours.

    • Assist department with various projects and events.

    • Assist with budget tracking, logging, and maintenance. Assist with admissions processing based on established processes. Resolve day to day problems on urgent and routine department matters. Assist students; make approved decisions on behalf of Department Chair, Assistant Director, and Student Success Coordinator; anticipate problems and recommend solutions. Procure text books and instructional materials; support instructors; purchase supplies and equipment; assist with payroll; interact with other departments and the public through written and verbal communications; initiate and process supplementary contracts; schedule meetings and appointments; arrange travel; store confidential documents; attend meetings (some out of normal work hours). General office duties and other duties as assigned. This position will utilize Microsoft Office programs as well as other programs (i.e. Banner) and computer systems to accomplish these tasks.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Graduation from a regionally accredited college/university with Bachelor’s degree 
    • One (1) year experience in a work setting related to an academic department
    • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
    • Commitment to diversity, inclusive excellence, and equity; ability to work with a diverse college community
    • Knowledge, skills and abilities related to department programs and courses
    • Positive attitude with pleasant and friendly demeanor
    • Strong attention to detail
    • A student-centered focus, exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills and the ability to view students from an asset-mindset
    • Commitment to continuous quality improvement, ongoing professional development, and a resilience for a dynamic changing work environment
    • Demonstrated ability to engage and impact business students in supportive ways.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Project management experience
    • Willingness to learn Wordpress
    • Knowledge of film industry
    • Budget maintenance/accounting
    • Background in the arts and understanding of the creative process
    • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite
