Position: Crisis Stabilization Counselor Impact Mental Health Services LLC is a forward-thinking, community-based mental health agency dedicated to delivering effective support services to the residents of the Tidewater area. Our mission is to empower clients to become strong advocates for themselves and their families while fostering a respectful, empathetic, and supportive working environment among colleagues. We are seeking a dedicated, reliable, and task-oriented Crisis Stabilization Counselor to build meaningful connections with our clients. In this role, you will provide direct mental health care to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis that may jeopardize their current community living situation. The focus of this service is to offer emergency support and prevent hospitalization by helping clients remain safely in their communities. Job Types:

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a human services field (e.g., Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, etc.)
Current QMHP-A certification
Must maintain QMHP-A registration or LMHP status with the Virginia Board of Counseling, including education, experience, and continuing education requirements
In-depth understanding of the needs of adults with serious mental illness
Strong clinical skills to provide daily living skills training to adults with mental illness
Ability to work from a person-centered approach
Proficient in clinical interviewing and identifying risk factors for suicide, violence, and other at-risk behaviors
Familiarity with mental health skill-building interventions
Valid Virginia Driver’s License is required
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide intensive crisis stabilization services in clients’ homes or communities, based on individual needs
Deliver goal-directed, short-term counseling to stabilize mental health conditions and prevent hospitalization due to psychiatric instability
Monitor psychiatric symptoms and, if necessary, refer the client for crisis evaluation or inpatient admission if they are at imminent risk of harm
Ensure medication adherence and facilitate psychiatric evaluations during crisis interventions
Refer clients to necessary community resources and professional mental health or medical services to support their stabilization
Collaborate with other service providers through coordinated efforts, documenting all actions in the client record
Complete progress notes, discharge reports, service authorization documents, incident reports, and other case documentation as required by agency procedures
Ensure documentation reflects the individual needs and progress of each client
Submit all required documentation within agency deadlines
Attend clinical supervision sessions and agency meetings as scheduled
Adhere to agency policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
