    Organizational Overview: Empowered Aging is a regional nonprofit organization serving seniors and families in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano counties. Empowered Aging is dedicated to ensuring dignity and quality of life for older adults through a variety of community based and congregate living programs. Current programs include Long-Term Care Ombudsman, Elder Justice, MSW Internship, and Healthcare Career Pathway. Empowered Aging, formerly Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa County, has a long history of advocating and protecting the rights of older and adults with disabilities. After years of dramatic growth, expanding to serve three counties and deliver multiple programs, Empowered Aging is seeking an innovative and forward-thinking team player to oversee its in-house volunteer recruitment, outreach, and fundraising efforts.

    Position Overview: Under the direction of the Executive Director, and in concert with the Director of Programs and Services and the Administrative Manager, the Community Engagement Manager oversees volunteer recruitment and management, outreach activities, and fundraising.

    Primary Responsibilities, in order of current priority

    Volunteer Management

    Coordinate with the Director of Programs and Services, and secondarily the Executive Director, to create and execute an outreach and volunteer recruitment plan.

    Participate as a team member in outreach activities including making presentations, participating in resource fairs, and attending networking events.

    Design and execute volunteer recruitment activities including posting opportunities, developing messaging, creating recruitment materials and social media posts, and engaging staff and volunteers to support efforts.

    Promote volunteer retention through ensuring meaningful work, providing volunteer training, establishing ongoing volunteer communications, and creating volunteer recognition events and opportunities.

    Create and manage a volunteer management system including maintaining written volunteer protocols, tracking and reporting of volunteer hours as required by individual contracts with match components, and ensuring effective volunteer oversight and feedback.

    Work with the Administrative Manager to secure background checks for new volunteers.

    Fund Development

    Work with the Executive Director and Administrative Manager to oversee the implementation of the agency’s development plan.

    Support grant outreach, research, and applications alongside agency leadership.

    Work with Administrative Manager to build and manage CRM database, donor tracking and relations, and volunteer management modules.

    Support creation and implementation of development plan; potentially including but not limited to an annual appeal, online fundraising, establishment of corporate partnerships, communications and outreach, and planning fundraising events and campaigns.

    Work with the Executive Director and Administrative Manager on donor relations; including thank you notes and other engagement activities.

    Experience and Education

    A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or five years minimum of increasingly responsible experience in the development and coordination of marketing, nonprofit communications, fundraising, and volunteer recruitment.

    An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

    Valid California driver’s license as a condition of initial and continued employment. Additionally, must have and maintain an insurable driving record.

    Compensation: $75,000 - $78,000/annually

    Insurance - Health, vision, dental, acupuncture, and chiropractic

    Reports To: Executive Director and accountable to/collaborative with Director of Programs and Services

    Schedule: This is a salary exempt position requiring significant time and attention. Expected work hours are M-F 8am-5pm with some evenings and weekends.

    Location: This position supports engagement efforts in all three Empowered Aging counties served. While the “home” office will be located at our Fairfield site, there is an expectation of weekly travel between all three offices. The office schedule is flexible with the approval of the Executive Director and will be dependent on events and meetings in all three sites.
