POSITION PURPOSE The Community Health Worker will deliver specialized crisis intervention services and comprehensive case management for individuals who have experienced sexual assault. This includes offering emotional support, assisting with immediate safety planning, connecting victims to necessary medical and legal resources, and providing ongoing guidance to help navigate recovery. Their role is pivotal in ensuring survivors receive the holistic care and support they need to heal and rebuild their lives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, & RESPONSIBILITIES
Crisis Intervention and Case Management for SA victims.
Identify, assess, and appropriately respond to child, youth, and adult victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking in rural communities.
Encourage and develop networks of collaboration among victim service providers.
Establish and expand victim services, including transportation.
Provide one-on-one advocacy and support/network for victims and direct services that address the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of victims and their families.
Increase awareness for these issues among the community and professional networks.
Participate in CHW Training and maintain certification through work events.
Apply cultural competence/approaches and culturally specific Interventions.
Assist practitioners with responsive approaches in crisis intervention, case management, aligned to cultural competency.
Provide resources and information to the community with a focus and strategies for support, healing, and interventions.
Ensure victim safety with resources and networking with the tribe and partnerships.
Develop trust and maintain confidentiality as mandated throughout the advocacy and service project and beyond.
Work collaboratively in developing partnerships with Robeson County Rape Crisis Center, Legal Aid of NC and UNC Health Southeastern.
Assist with providing sexual assault training using culturally appropriate approaches that address marginalization and barriers.

MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
2 years of experience working with the public
Education:
High School Graduate
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Calendar, and Task manager.)
Scheduling virtual meetings
Taking and recording minutes.
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
Description and ability to handle confidential information
Adaptability and willingness to learn new tasks
Must obtain Certification as a Community Health Worker (CHWs)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative to those an employee encounters while performing the primary functions of this job. Normal office conditions exist, and the noise level in the work environment can vary from low to moderate. Limited overnight travel may be required from time to time.
Physical demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk, hear and perform repetitive motions. There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with clients, vendors, and staff.
Mental demands:
There are a number of deadlines associated with this position. The employee must be able to handle frequent interruptions and must also multi-task and interact with a wider variety of people on various and, at times, complicated issues.
