Job Description:
The Native C.O.R.E. Community Outreach & Education Coordinator plays a pivotal role in engaging with the Native American community, promoting our organization's programs and services, and connecting individuals with the resources they need. The Outreach Coordinator will serve as a bridge between Native C.O.R.E. and the community, building relationships, raising awareness, and advocating for the needs of our constituents.
Responsibilities:
Community Engagement: Develop and implement outreach strategies to effectively reach and engage with members of the Native American community, including individuals, families, tribal entities, and community organizations.
Resource Referral: Serve as a primary point of contact for individuals seeking assistance, providing information, referrals, and support to connect them with Native C.O.R.E.'s programs and external resources.
Event Planning and Coordination: Organize community events, workshops, and outreach activities to raise awareness about Native C.O.R.E.'s programs and initiatives and facilitate access to services.
Partnership Building: Cultivate and maintain relationships with local organizations, tribal entities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to expand the reach and impact of Native C.O.R.E.'s outreach efforts.
Cultural Competency: Demonstrate cultural humility and sensitivity in all interactions, respecting and honoring the traditions, values, and perspectives of the Native American community.
Data Collection and Reporting: Collect data on outreach activities, participant demographics, and outcomes, and prepare regular reports to track progress and measure the effectiveness of outreach efforts.
Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and priorities of the Native American community, representing their interests in meetings, forums, and collaborative initiatives.
Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other members of the Native C.O.R.E. team, including program staff, volunteers, and leadership, to ensure seamless coordination and integration of outreach efforts with programmatic activities.
Suggested Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, community development, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in community outreach, engagement, or advocacy, preferably in a nonprofit or social services setting.
Knowledge of harm reduction, Overdose Awareness, MAT Clinic, and addiction services.
Knowledge of and experience working with Native American communities, with a demonstrated commitment to cultural competency and understanding.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with diverse audiences.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands effectively.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with database management preferred.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.
