    Watertown Cable Access Corporation (WCA-TV) is a community media center dedicated to empowering the diverse residents of the vibrant city of Watertown, Massachusetts, to tell their own stories. WCA-TV is a welcoming space where all voices can be heard, offering its members the opportunity to build state-of-the-art multimedia skills and broadcast-quality content through affordable education and access to equipment. WCA-TV also informs Watertown residents about issues that affect them through public, educational, and governmental (PEG) programming. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Community Outreach & Fundraising Coordinator to engage with the Watertown community and spearhead fundraising efforts. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about local media, community engagement, and nonprofit fundraising.

    Summary:

    The Community Outreach and Fundraising Coordinator is a vital role dedicated to expanding community engagement and securing financial support for WCA-TV. This position focuses on increasing awareness of the station’s programs and services through strategic outreach efforts and meaningful partnerships with local organizations, schools, and businesses. The Community Outreach and Fundraising Coordinator will represent the station at community events, organize in-house events, and foster relationships that strengthen the station’s role as a hub for creative expression and connection.

    On the fundraising front, the Community Outreach and Fundraising Coordinator will lead efforts to secure resources through grants, sponsorships, donations, and fundraising events. They will identify and pursue funding opportunities, craft compelling proposals, and build lasting relationships with donors and sponsors. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with strong communication skills and a passion for community media, eager to support the station’s mission and ensure its long-term sustainability.

    Responsibilities:

    Community Engagement:

    Develop and implement outreach strategies to promote WCA-TV programming, services, and volunteer opportunities

    Build and maintain working relationships with key stakeholders including local organizations, nonprofits, municipal and educational institutions, businesses, and community groups

    Collaborate with stakeholders on content creation and community programming

    Represent WCA-TV at community and cultural events to increase awareness of workshops, programs, and other opportunities

    Work closely with the Content Manager on community outreach strategies using WCA-TV’s website, social media, newsletter, and other promotional materials

    Act as the primary contact for community inquiries and collaboration opportunities

    Fundraising & Grant Writing:

    Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including donations, sponsorships, and grant writing

    Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising campaigns and station-hosted events

    Research and write compelling grant proposals for applicable grants on the local, state, and national levels

    Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and grant-making organizations to secure financial support

    Represent WCA-TV at local business and networking events to increase awareness of sponsorship program and develop potential funding collaborations

    Work with WCA-TV board of directors on fundraising efforts and strategies

    General Administrative & Reporting:

    Track fundraising progress and produce quarterly reports for the Executive Director

    Develop and maintain an outreach calendar to ensure consistent communication with the community

    Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities, donor information, and financial contributions

    Provides occasional support to the Executive Director with administrative and operational tasks

    Requirements:

    Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as communications, management, marketing, or public relations is preferred

    Proven experience in outreach, fundraising, or development within a nonprofit or similar environment

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in grant writing preferred

    Strong organizational and project management skills

    Ability to develop beneficial partnerships with community groups and businesses

    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

    Experience with social media platforms, email marketing, and fundraising software is desirable

    Flexible schedule to attend occasional evening and weekend events
