    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a talented Community Planner/Outreach Specialist to join our Transportation & Environmental Planning team in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will use their creativity and communications skills to translate complex technical ideas into easy-to-understand content. They will play a key role in engaging stakeholders and leading public involvement efforts for major transportation infrastructure projects in the region.

    The successful candidate will:

    • Manage stakeholder coordination and public involvement tasks for projects at multiple scales.
    • Prepare content for social media, press, and newspaper publications.
    • Organize and facilitate client, stakeholder, and community meetings.
    • Work with a multidisciplinary team to prepare presentations for virtual and in-person meetings.
    • Develop and manage online survey campaigns.

    Reports to the NY Metro Environmental Lead in the Transportation & Environmental Planning group

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • BA/BS in Communications, Journalism, Urban or Transportation Planning or related degree plus two (2) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Proven ability to support stakeholder communication, media relations programs, community outreach, and/or special events.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, and online survey tools.
    • Ability to facilitate public and stakeholder meetings at client specified venues and times.
    • Experience working with public sector clients in the transportation industry.
    • Familiarity with conducting public outreach as part of the NEPA process.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
