We are seeking an experienced and motivated Level B Compactor Technician for our Environmental Services client in Norwalk Connecticut.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing compactors and related waste equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as troubleshooting skills to ensure efficient operation of all assigned equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair compactors, balers, and other waste equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and preventive servicing on compactors and related equipment to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems within compactors.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to accurately assess issues and perform repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Complete documentation for all work performed, including work orders, parts used, and time tracking.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure service quality and efficient workflow.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in a relevant field is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in compactor or similar heavy equipment repair (required).
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of high voltage - 208v, 460/480v, & 120v
- Welding experience - certification a plus
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be able to obtain a Medical DOT card if don't have one already
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions.
