Companion Caregiver for Special Needs Individual
We are currently seeking compassionate and reliable Respite Workers to provide in-home care services for clients with special needs. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to connect with someone in a meaningful way, create a positive client/companion relationship, enhance one another's lives, learn from one another, and support your client's primary caregiver by providing them time to recharge while knowing that their loved one is in good company.
Caregivers are paired with clients based on their level of experience in the field, compatibility, location preferences, and hours of availability. We offer flexible scheduling and competitive pay.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities vary client to client. Some clients require more assistance and specialized care, while others are more in need of a safety-conscious companion. The following are examples of some of the common responsibilities of a respite worker:
Providing companionship and emotional support
Engaging in recreational activities & hobbies
Going for walks in nature, Art Museums, Beaches or exploring new places together
Spending quality time in the home together
Assisting and encouraging them in their interests, goals, and objectives to foster independence and confidence
Building trust and mutual appreciation with the client and the primary caregiver to contribute to their overall sense of well-being
Maintaining a safe and clean environment for the individual contributing to a sense of comfort & security
Medication and monitoring health status as needed, as well as assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, and dressing, while fostering a warm and caring environment
Ensuring dietary needs are met
Cultivating healthy and positive habits together
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in providing in-home care services to individuals with special needs.
Knowledge of basic caregiving skills and techniques.
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with special needs and their families.
Ability to work independently and follow care plans as directed.
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
