Position Overview:
The Compliance Specialist will ensure that the company operates within the regulatory frameworks governing consumer financing, mortgage licensing, and servicing/collection licensing. This role requires a strong understanding of compliance protocols, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure best practices in regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to consumer financing, banking, and mortgage servicing/collection licensing.
- Manage the application, renewal, and maintenance of licensing requirements, including mortgage licensing and servicing/collection licensing, as applicable.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies, banking partners, and internal stakeholders to address compliance-related inquiries and updates.
- Conduct internal audits to assess compliance risks and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with current regulations and industry standards.
- Provide training to staff on compliance-related topics, fostering a culture of regulatory awareness and adherence.
- Assist in preparing for and managing regulatory examinations or audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
- Stay informed about regulatory changes and updates that may impact the company's operations or partnerships.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in compliance, particularly in mortgage licensing, servicing/collection licensing, or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of consumer protection regulations, including Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and similar frameworks.
- Experience working with banking partners and understanding their compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with compliance management software is a plus.
