    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Computational Engineering Design Intern to assist the Global Enterprise Capabilities Digital Team. This position is for a full-time internship (Summer 2025) and will provide for a flexible hybrid work schedule to include both remote and office. Position can be based, but limited to, Los Angeles, CA.

    This position assist with the development of globally applicable automation tools and processes, in addition to working on design projects to further develop workflow definitions and test tools that have been created in a project production setting.

    This position is expected to begin in Summer 2025.

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Work with project teams to accurately capture the requirements of any workflow we are seeking to automate, in order to create a specification for the tools and content that will be required to achieve the automation aim.
    • Assist in the production of 3D BIM project models aligned to project specified BIM requirements using Autodesk Revit.
    • Advise and provide support for interoperability procedures between authoring software, and interfacing CAD/BIM & Analysis software packages.
    • Support the development of computational engineering standards and best practices, through non-project design technology workshops.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering, Structural, Architecture, Engineering, Computational Design or similar education and must have completed at least 3 of years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Design automation experience using the required platforms.

    • Ability to create complex parametric content (predominantly Revit families), for use with automation tools.

    • Working knowledge of any of the following: Revit SDK, Dynamo SDK, Forge APIs, Rhinoceros SDK, Grasshopper SDK, RhinoInside, RhinoCompute (Hops), Bentley Connect SDK, Python, C#

    • Technical design and construction knowledge in engineering design and construction.

    • Have a very good working knowledge of BIM Platforms complimentary to using authoring tools (i.e.: BIM360/ACC, Navisworks, ProjectWise, Revizto, etc.)

    • Previous Experience within Building, Transportation, structural or Water/P&P design projects
