Genex Systems is looking for a Concrete Materials Research Engineer responsible for planning and conducting concrete pavement research projects for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC).
The research engineer will be assigned to the Concrete Laboratory at TFHRC. Research conducted in the Concrete Laboratory addresses the characterization and evaluation of cement‐based materials, concretes, and materials in contact with types of cement and concrete structures made from these materials. The research program conducts applied and basic research within the identified topic areas looking at innovative materials, designs, construction processes, assessment techniques, and rehabilitation solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the planning, conducting, and reporting of concrete pavement research projects.
- Concrete materials-related research experience includes constituent materials (aggregates, cement, supplementary cementitious materials, and admixtures), fresh and hardened property testing, models and software tools to predict in-service performance, knowledge, and development of specifications and design codes (for example, ASTM C39, ASTM C78, ASTM C150, ASTM C157, ASTM C469, ASTM C496, ASTM C512, ASTM C595, ASTM C1556, ASTM C1585, ASTM C1856, AASHTO TP119, and AASHTO PP84),
- Ability to operate specialized laboratory equipment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to write publication-ready research reports as well as participate and present during demonstration projects, seminars, committee meetings, and workshops.
Qualification:
- Masters of Science or Doctorate degree in Civil, Mechanical, Structural, Materials Engineering
- Demonstration of at least three years of hands-on experience planning, conducting, and reporting (as demonstrated through peer-reviewed or federal document publications) on concrete materials engineering research.
