Overview:
Primary Job Role of the Senior Configuration Management Specialist is to drive forward the governance and process optimization of Huntington’s Configuration Management domain.
This domain focuses on on-prem as well as cloud and SaaS based applications and the processes/governance that ensure the delivery of consistent, secure infrastructure in these spaces.
The best candidate for this position is a highly skilled professional responsible for driving strategic initiatives, optimizing processes, and delivering business value within the configuration management function.
This role is fully independent and proactive, capable of managing all phases of projects from discovery to validation.
The Specialist identifies opportunities for business improvements, develops value presentations for leadership, and plays a key role in aligning IT initiatives with organizational goals.
This position is designed for individuals who excel in both tactical execution and strategic thinking, with the ability to step into leadership roles when needed.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Project Leadership: Independently lead configuration management projects, from discovery and requirements gathering to testing and validation. Drive projects to successful completion with little to no oversight, overcoming roadblocks autonomously.
Business Value Articulation: Develop and present value propositions for configuration management innovations and improvements. Clearly articulate the business impact of projects and initiatives to leadership, demonstrating how IT supports broader business objectives.
Process Evaluation and Optimization: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of existing team-wide processes, with a deep understanding of their goals. Coordinate improvements across the entire configuration management stack, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.
Proactive Problem Solving: Go beyond immediate issues to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions. Approach challenges strategically, looking for long-term benefits and alignment with business priorities.
Full Ownership of Objectives: Operate as a fully independent resource on any project or objective. Drive work towards strategic goals, requiring minimal guidance or coaching. Align efforts with team and organizational objectives to deliver impactful outcomes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with senior engineers and other stakeholders to identify areas for improvement across IT and business processes. Create business cases that demonstrate the value of IT as a business driver.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends and pursue new knowledge that drives the business forward. Leverage insights to introduce innovative solutions and best practices in configuration management.
Leadership Readiness: Serve as a natural leader within the team, capable of stepping into leadership roles as needed. Mentor and guide junior team members, providing direction and support to ensure successful outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement and Training: Provide high-level support to stakeholders, including training on new processes and tools. Ensure stakeholders are informed and aligned with configuration management standards and best practices.
Performance Metrics and Reporting: Develop and maintain metrics to measure the success of configuration management initiatives. Provide regular updates to leadership on progress, impact, and opportunities for further optimization.
Qualifications:
Extensive experience in configuration management amongst several different technologies - on-prem, cloud-based, containerization, etc. - with a proven track record of leading strategic projects and driving business value in this domain.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to create compelling business cases for IT initiatives.
Exceptional problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on long-term, sustainable solutions.
Ability to work independently on complex projects, requiring minimal oversight and delivering high-impact results.
Proven experience in process evaluation, optimization, and implementation of best practices.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership.
Demonstrated leadership abilities, including mentoring, guiding, and stepping into leadership roles as needed.
