JOB SUMMARY
The Curtain Wall Fabrication Engineer is responsible for developing accurate and detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings of curtain wall systems using Autodesk Inventor. This role ensures that all units and parts are engineered precisely for efficient shop fabrication and field installation. The engineer collaborates closely with project managers, drafters, and fabrication teams to translate architectural intent into production-ready designs.
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
- Experience in curtain wall or facade design, preferably in a fabrication-focused environment.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (required); experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or other design tools is a plus.
- Strong understanding of curtain wall systems (stick, unitized, semi-unitized).
- Familiarity with fabrication methods, materials (aluminum, glass, gaskets), and shop practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and DFM (design for manufacturing) principles.
YOU WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Create 3D models of curtain wall systems, assemblies, and components using Autodesk Inventor.
- Develop detailed part drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions for fabrication teams.
- Ensure all designs comply with structural, thermal, and aesthetic requirements as per project specifications.
- Coordinate with drafting, fabrication, and installation teams to resolve design conflicts and optimize buildability.
- Collaborate with project managers and architects to clarify design intent and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain and organize digital files and ensure model revisions are properly tracked and documented.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in design workflows and fabrication processes.
- Stay up to date with curtain wall technologies, materials, and industry standards.
