    Job Description

    AECOM Water is actively seeking a highly talented and responsible Construction Engineer (Water Treatment Design Build) with electrical and instrumentation and controls experience for immediate employment on our Progressive Design Build – Flagship Advanced Water Treatment project in San Diego, CA. This is the largest project of its kind and a unique opportunity to be part of innovation within the wastewater industry. You will be primarily responsible for the effective coordination, installation, startup, and commissioning of large wastewater pumps and associated electrical and controls equipment and systems.

    You will also have the opportunity to advise and perform engineering design support while interacting closely with the Design and Quality Control Managers. You will be responsible for quality assurance of the construction while actively participating in design and construction meetings with the Contractor, Subcontractors, Project Design Engineer, and the Owner. This role will offer key opportunities for career growth and development as an engineer.

    This position requires candidate to be onsite in San Diego County (Santee), CA.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Perform system testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment, including pumps, valves, and sensors.
    • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new wastewater treatment systems.
    • Monitor equipment performance and identify areas for improvement during the startup phase.
    • Document all testing procedures, repairs, and adjustments made during the startup process.
    • Collaborate with engineers, operators, and other technicians to ensure a smooth transition to operational status.
    • Provide training and support to operational staff on new equipment and processes.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirement:

    • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
    • Valid driver's license.

    Preferred Qualification:

    • 15 years of related experience with 5+ years of Municipal Water / Wastewater Construction project experience
    • 5+ years of experience with electrical engineering and/or instrumentation and controls engineering
    • Experience with the installation and startup of large wastewater pumps and associated electrical and controls equipment and systems
    • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with internal and external contacts
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Efficient with Microsoft Office
