Our client is an ICC Class A, full-service general contractor that specializes in high-end resort custom homes, hospitality, and commercial multi-family projects. Their team brings unique experience and knowledge to their projects, creating value for communities and developments. Each team member utilizes their strengths, allowing them to elevate their market presence from known regional players to a national leader in the luxury custom home marketplace.
Currently, they are seeking a Construction Estimator to join their team. The Construction Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating the cost of construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and other project expenses. This role involves reviewing project plans, specifications, and proposals to prepare detailed cost estimates, ensuring they align with the project’s budget, schedule, and client expectations. The Construction Estimator will collaborate with Project Managers, contractors, and clients to ensure all aspects of the project are well-budgeted and executed efficiently.
Responsibilities:
Review architectural & engineer drawings, specifications, and other documents to understand project requirements.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and OH&P.
Develop quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns.
Research and solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
Compare and analyze subcontractor quotes to determine the most cost-effective options using bid tabs.
Prepare and submit comprehensive bid proposals.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality (value engineering).
Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to refine project scope and pricing.
Present cost estimates and justifications to internal and external stakeholders.
Stay updated on material costs, labor rates, and market trends.
Build and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
Assists with the creation of preliminary preconstruction schedules.
Prepare and maintain RFI logs in Procore.
Keep a compilation of in-house data to quickly create opinion of cost Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates
Perform post-bid buyouts (if applicable).
Supervise and train estimating staff (if applicable).
Qualifications:
2+ years’ Estimating experience.
Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost structures.
Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings.
Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations.
