    Established in 1977, Schwob Building Company has continued to bring successful services to our clients in the automotive, aviation, warehouse/distribution, manufacturing, trucking/transportation and service and maintenance industries. By specializing in these niche areas of design, bid and construction, we are better able to understand our clients’ needs and operational goals .

    We are currently seeking an Estimator with 3-5 years experience **. **Commercial construction experience is required and a positive, innovative, teamwork attitude is a must. Only qualified candidates in the construction industry will be considered.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Construction required.
    • Ability to meet tight estimating deadlines.
    • Completeness and accuracy of estimates and budgets
    • Ability to read and understand construction documents including project plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
    • Understanding of commercial construction means and methods.
    • Strong communication skills & leadership ability.
    • Must be computer literate, prefer experience with MS Excel & Project and other construction related estimating software.

    _ Key Result Areas and Accountabilities_

    Pre-Construction / Estimator Coordination

    • Maintain a detailed up-to-date database of qualified subcontractors and suppliers
    • Subcontractor pre-qualification
    • Invitation to bid process
    • Specific project pre-bid process
    • Plan and Spec Distribution – subcontractors
    • Copy and distribute estimate documents as needed
    • Subcontractor coordination
    • Coordination with outside trade organizations
    • Coordination of online bid solicitation
    • Coordination with outside plan services
    • Maintain Bid Calendar
    • Verify bid documents received from owner are accurate, complete and to scale
    • Maintain bid tracking database
    • Coordinate in-house bid day operations

    **Pre-Construction **

    • Participate in design build / design assist projects
    • Assist with takeoffs and plan reviews
    • Assist with preparation of scope sheets & unit prices for budgets
    • Assist with preparation of proposal submission documents

    Estimating

    • Assist with takeoffs and plan reviews
    • Assist with preparation of scope sheets
    • Seek out and find qualified subcontractors – and convince them to propose on bid day
    • Prepare bid buckets and maintain estimating department shared email address
    • Keep abreast of current construction practices
    • Attend pre-bid meetings
    • Assist with preliminary site investigations as required
    • Assist with bid day activities including delivery of proposal, scoping and selection of vendor quotes

    Project Turnover

    • Update bid solicitation database with proposed and awarded subcontractors
    • Archive subcontractor bids and bid documents upon project award
    • Prepare project management turnover documents
    • Subcontractor /Vendor Relations
    • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors
    • Coordination of subcontractor events
