A growing engineering firm in Fort Lauderdale is looking for an entry level Inspector for their construction, remodeling projects, and existing structures. The ideal candidate will have a bilingual background and experience working in the construction and/or civil engineering field in the US or abroad. The hourly rate for this role will be $15 - $17/hr and the client is looking to hire immediately.
Description
The Field Inspector will be tasked with the role of evaluating various projects within our scope of services, such inspections include the collection of data needed for new construction, remodeling projects, and existing structures for compliance with the Florida Building Code (FBC), safety standards, local laws, local ordinances, and other County, State, and Federal regulations. It also falls into the inspector’s duties to approve completed work; document building code compliance violations; and advise builders and property owners on code and permit requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Inspects new and existing buildings during various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure adherence to the FBC, safety standards, local laws, and ordinances.
- Evaluates various building elements such as foundations, framing systems, and other structural components to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards.
- Travel to inspection site locations (within Palm Beach Broward and Miami-Dade County.)
- Reviews the quality of installation and workmanship of various components and systems to ensure installation and function are in accordance with the approved permit documentation.
- Provides a report of their observations when deficiencies or violations are discovered.
- Shall establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with work colleagues, supervisors, and other members of the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related, preferred but not mandatory.
- 0-1 years of work experience in structural engineering or related field.
- A valid driver’s license.
- A base level of knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
- Ability to read plans and related specifications.
- Ability to communicate with professionals from other disciplines.
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and any project-specific engineering and construction-relevant software.
