    Octane Design, LLC is looking for an experienced Construction Project Engineer to join our commercial construction team! The Construction Project Engineer provides the knowledge and skill to support Project Management and Field Operations in performing technical tasks, such as processing shop drawings, handling the workflow of requests for information (RFIs), submittals, document control, change management, outsourcing, estimating, scheduling and other related activities.

    Who are we? Octane Design, LLC is a general contractor located in north Phoenix. You may not have heard of our firm (yet), but you have seen our work. We have done general contract work for several retailers such as L’Occitane En Provence, Clarins, Chico’s, Lululemon and Insomnia Cookies. We are also involved in projects in the financial, medical, 3PL, and food service industries. Our business is growing exponentially, and we are adding an OA to join our team to perform the following functions:

    Responsibilities:

    Support the Project Manager (PM), Superintendents and others throughout all project phases including estimating, writing contracts, administration and close-out of projects.

    Work with subject matter experts to create, review and process project controls that track status, changes, RFIs, shop drawings and submittals involving quality control, safety, financial performance, close-out and other project aspects.

    Support change-management by updating logs, routing source documents to vendors, obtaining pricing by assisting in compiling sub estimates and proposals, writing change orders for review by management and other related activities.

    Support the estimating process by performing quantity surveys, utilizing digitizers and paper-based processes that obtain and summarize the scope and quantities of work.

    Establish, monitor, communicate and maintain project schedules utilizing MS Project or s similar program.

    Support the PM in writing contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders.

    Maintain and produce reports utilizing contractor and client-specific workflow software.

    Attend and document owner meetings, and other coordination meetings.

    Proactively identify issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutions.

    Develop processes that require and maintain compliance with all contract terms and legal requirements governing a project, to prevent rework and delays.

    Coordinate all final close-out procedures in a timely manner, including as-built drawing, punch lists, final billing, occupancy permit, owner acceptance, project manuals, warranty letters, subcontractor close-out, letter of substantial completion, and letter of recommendation.

    Participate in post-completion project reviews and provide Estimating with information for their database.

    Requirements:

    B.S. degree in engineering or construction management, or five years’ direct experience supporting a growing company is preferred.

    Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural and site development experience is a plus

    Familiarity with construction software such and Procore Construction Management and MS Project.

    Highly proficient user of Microsoft 365 office suite, especially Excel and Outlook.

    Demonstrate initiative to find answers or information when not readily apparent.

    Support colleagues with various ad hoc projects and requests.

    Able to establish priorities, coordinate activities, and meet deadlines with accuracy.

    Effective working as a team member or independently, with minimal supervision.

    Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English.

    Able to travel 20% of the time, sometimes out-of-state and overnight

    Able to lift and transport 20 lbs. at a time; frequent sitting, standing, bending and kneeling; extended use of common office equipment, a telephone and computer screen required.
