ADK Design, Inc. is a Milwaukee-based general contractor with in-house custom millwork capabilities. We specialize in commercial construction projects ranging from modern hospitality spaces to full-scale redevelopment. We’re looking to add a Construction Project Manager to lead exciting new builds and continue our tradition of excellence.
About the Role
As a Construction Project Manager, you’ll be based in our Milwaukee office with weekly travel to job sites. You’ll manage 1–2 projects at a time—ranging from $500K to $25M—with a typical project size between $1M and $8M. You will estimate, schedule, and lead all phases of the project lifecycle while building relationships with subcontractors, architects, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Estimate, schedule, and prepare for new projects once plans are available
- Review and manage subcontractor agreements
- Lead execution of rebuilds, remodels, and redevelopment projects
Communication & Coordination
- Lead weekly on-site meetings with clients, architects, and subcontractors
- Manage submittals, updates, and documentation
- Oversee change orders, bid finalization, and daily/weekly project reporting
Problem-Solving & Decision-Making
- Make timely, confident decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Proactively manage schedules and budgets
- Align project teams on key milestones and action items

- $4M ice rink & restaurant/bar in Mequon
- $15M boutique resort near Lake Geneva (38 cabins, all-glass barn, 28-room hotel)
- Hotel Madrid: 86-room boutique hotel (Summer start)
- 65-unit apartment building (Ground-up, starts in August)
- Ongoing: office build-outs, hospitality spaces, and tenant improvements
Performance Goals
First 90 Days
- Understand active project scopes, schedules, and subcontractor roles
- Demonstrate estimating, scheduling, and documentation skills
- Establish trust with key internal and external stakeholders
- Lead site meetings and coordinate field activity effectively
First 180 Days
- Keep schedules on track and budgets controlled
- Improve project execution and process efficiency
- Build trusted relationships with architects, clients, and subcontractors
First 12 Months
- Successfully deliver at least one major project on time and within budget
- Streamline internal processes for estimating and scheduling
- Establish yourself as a leadership presence within the company
Key Challenges in the First 90 Days
- Rapid onboarding to multiple active projects
- Balancing project prep with ongoing field execution
- Thriving in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
Must-Have
- Experience managing all phases of commercial construction projects
- Ability to estimate your own projects (initial budgets provided by leadership)
- Proficient in Excel for pricing, estimating, and budgeting
- Familiar with subcontractor relationships and agreements
- Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs
Preferred
- Experience with respected commercial general contractors
- Existing subcontractor relationships in the Milwaukee market
- Strong under-pressure decision-making and conflict resolution skills
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred — OR — 10+ years of relevant project management experience
- 5+ years of experience managing projects up to $5M
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and clean driving record (accommodations available as required by law)
- OSHA 30 certification required
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred
- Proficiency with digital tools: Outlook, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Microsoft Office, etc.
