Primary Objective: To ensure that projects are constructed in accordance with plans and specifications, safely and on time, and to the delight of our clients. Superintendent is responsible for all on-site activities.
Superintendent:
· Work with estimator and/or project manager to provide input on constructability, schedule, logistics, bid scopes, alternative means & methods, etc., during the bidding or preconstruction phase.
· Participate in Pre-Job Kick-Off Meetings, Pre-Construction Meetings, Finish Strong Meetings and Post Project Review meetings.
· Assist in the review of submittals in order to ensure that materials are coordinated with field conditions and other trades.
· Fully understand the project plans and specifications and supervise work to ensure that all work is executed in accordance with them.
· Understand client’s needs, concerns, and priorities and make sure that they are being met. Be a Salesmantendent.
· Participate in presentations and other activities to help us secure new work.
· Overall responsibility for security and safety on the job site and enforcement of safety policies. Conduct and document accident investigations.
· Ensure that all personnel on site are properly certified and licensed as required for their trade. OSHA 10 minimum for all workers on site.
· Conduct weekly Safety inspections and inspection reports. Review project monthly with Babbidge’s Safety Officer. Target Zero injuries.
· Conduct weekly Toolbox Talks with Babbidge personnel on site.
· Coordinate Material Deliveries, dumpster pulls, etc.
· Complete Daily Reports in Procore with progress photos.
· Track and verify extra work; sign work tickets daily for “verification of work” only
· Communicate daily with Project Manager to discuss project and issues.
· Ensure that work areas have received environmental clearance before starting.
· Work with Project Manager to develop project schedule and ensure that the work is being performed in accordance with the project schedule. Develop three-week look ahead schedules on a weekly basis. Want flow.
· Conduct daily huddles with foremen and log on Daily Report.
· Conduct weekly subcontractor coordination meetings. Schedule, safety and quality objectives/issues must be discussed at each meeting.
· Responsible for level of quality of all work performed. Work to avoid punch list – goal is Zero Item Punch List.
· Make sure that appropriate signage is posted and maintained, incl mandatory OSHA/DOL signs, safety signs, muster plan, emergency contacts, etc.
· Ensure that job site is maintained in a clean and safe condition that reflects well on Babbidge and our client at all times. 5S. Noticeably Better.
· Ensure that all personnel on site are conducting themselves in a manner that reflects well on us and the project at all times.
· Direct in-house Field Associates and ensure that they have materials needed to work efficiently
· Train Field Associates on Company Values and Objectives.
· Enforce company field attire and PPE policy
· Review and approve time-cards of Field Associates
· Be proactive in identifying and addressing potential problems.
· Prepare for, attend and participate in weekly OAC meeting; provide overview of the work in progress and upcoming work.
· Write RFIs and submit to the Project Manager for review and forwarding.
· Maintain As-Built drawings and specifications; verify that subs are doing same
· Coordinate third party testing and inspections.
· Coordinate with trades and local building officials to ensure that all appropriate inspections are performed and documented.
· Ensure that Hot Work Permits are being filled-out and followed for all hot work
· Document field conditions as necessary with photographs, notes and sketches.
· Coordinate and schedule shut-downs.
· Ensure that project waste management plan is being executed fully.
· Manage job site general conditions, temporary facilities, utilities, etc.
· Make sure that a copy of all keys, codes, combinations, etc. are provided to the Construction Administrator in the office
· Superintendent is responsible for job site at all times and must be available by phone 24/7. Never leave job site without a competent person in charge.
Skill Set/Requirements:
Must know the job better than anyone
Must be on site 15 mins before start of work.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, MS Project and Procore; and use of iPad.
Familiarity with BIM a plus
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Lead by example.
Be proactive in identifying conflicts and help find solutions
Work collaboratively with all members of the project team to ensure a great outcome.
Treat everyone with respect and courtesy.

Valid Driver’s License and Clean Driving History Minimum of 5 years’ experience running projects in the $5-$15 million range. Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related major preferred.
