    About the Superintendent of Construction Role

    The Construction Superintendent plays a pivotal role in overseeing and directing all aspects of construction projects from start to finish. Reporting directly to the Director of Construction, this position entails managing and coordinating the execution of construction activities on assigned projects with a keen focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. The Superintendent will lead and supervise subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and applicable regulations.

    In addition to day-to-day supervision of on-site activities, the Superintendent will collaborate closely with project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, project managers, and clients, to facilitate effective communication and resolve any issues or challenges that may arise during construction. This includes conducting regular site meetings, reviewing progress reports, and implementing corrective actions as needed to keep projects on track and within budget.

    The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of construction methods and techniques, and the ability to effectively manage resources and personnel in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. While not required, it is preferred that candidates have experience in secure facility construction and knowledge of ICD 705 guidelines. A commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork is essential to success in this role.

    Tasks & Responsibilities

    Team Leadership:

    Supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and to high-quality standards.

    Provide guidance, direction, and support to construction teams, resolving issues, conflicts, and challenges as they arise.

    Conduct regular meetings with project teams to review progress, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.

    Project Coordination:

    Coordinate construction activities with other trades, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of project milestones.

    Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively, identifying and addressing any issues or delays that may impact project timelines and deliverables.

    Safety & Quality Assurance

    Implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.

    Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure construction work meets quality standards, specifications, and client expectations.

    Address any safety or quality concerns promptly, taking corrective action as necessary to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.

    Subcontractor Management

    Supervising, and coordinating subcontractors, ensuring they adhere to project schedules, quality standards, and contractual obligations.

    Administrative

    Project Documentation:

    Ensuring accurate and complete documentation of all project-related activities, including permits, contracts, change orders, RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and meeting minutes.

    Scheduling:

    Collaborate with Project Manager in maintaining project schedules, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment, and monitoring progress to ensure adherence to project timelines.

    Ability to generate 2-week look ahead schedule.

    Budgeting and Cost Control:

    Assisting in the development of project budgets, tracking project expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

    Communication:

    Serving as the on-site primary point of contact for communication between project stakeholders, including owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal project team members. Maintaining open lines of communication to address issues and resolve conflicts.

    Risk Management:

    Identifying and mitigating project risks, such as schedule delays, budget overruns, and safety hazards. Developing contingency plans and implementing corrective actions to address unforeseen challenges.

    Job Requirements

    Education Requirement: High School diploma or equivalent.

    U.S. Citizenship: Due to the nature of this position and the requirement for access to classified or sensitive information, candidates must be U.S. citizens as defined by federal law.

    Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction supervision and management roles.

    Strong knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and materials.

    OSHA certification or equivalent safety training preferred.

    Willingness and ability to travel 25%-50% for job-related assignments.

    Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, stand, and sit during working hours. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Able to climb ladders and perform tasks at elevated heights

    This position requires compliance with all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of all employees. Candidates must be willing and able to wear appropriate PPE, including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots, as required for the job duties and work environment.

    Preferred Qualification: Candidates with experience in secure facility construction and knowledge of ICD 705 guidelines.
