Position Summary:
As a Consulting Actuary, you will apply your actuarial knowledge to provide clients with strategic advice, helping them navigate complex insurance and risk challenges. You will be responsible for evaluating data, modeling scenarios, and advising on premium rates, reserve management, and risk assessments. This role requires a high degree of analytical precision, client focus, and an ability to present complex findings in an accessible way.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Advisory:
* Provide expert actuarial guidance to clients on risk, insurance costs, and financial planning.
* Design and deliver presentations to clients explaining actuarial findings, trends, and solutions in clear and actionable terms.
- Data Analysis & Modeling:
* Develop and implement actuarial models to assess various risk factors, premium rates, and reserve requirements.
* Analyze data for loss frequency, claims trends, and liability exposure to determine appropriate pricing strategies and loss reserves.
- Financial Forecasting & Strategy:
* Support financial planning efforts through projections of loss reserves, cash flow, and profitability for both internal use and client planning.
* Develop and implement long-term risk management strategies tailored to clients' unique insurance needs.
- Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:
* Ensure all actuarial work complies with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
* Prepare detailed reports for regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and company executives.
- Cross-Department Collaboration:
* Work closely with underwriters, finance, and risk management teams to ensure consistent and accurate actuarial support.
* Serve as a key contributor to product development, advising on pricing and policy structure based on actuarial insight.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Professional actuarial certification (ASA, FSA, or equivalent) required.
- 5+ years of experience in actuarial consulting or a related field, with strong experience in insurance sectors.
- Proficiency in actuarial software (e.g., SAS, R, Prophet) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and statistical modeling abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in client-facing roles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
