    Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is seeking a qualified physician to provide medical care to inmates at a Correctional Center. The physician will deliver high-quality healthcare services, ensure compliance with applicable policies, and promote the overall health and well-being of the inmate population. This role requires dedication to serving a challenging yet rewarding environment.

    Requirements of the Contract Physician:

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited medical school.
    • Completion of an accredited residency program.
    • Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
    • Board certification in a relevant specialty (preferred).
    • Current DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI).
    • Demonstrated clinical experience, preferably in correctional, public health, or underserved settings.
    • Strong diagnostic and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
    • Effective communication and documentation abilities.
    • Compassion and commitment to patient care in a correctional environment.
    • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMRs).

    Schedule of the Contract Physician:

    • Up to 20 hours per week required.

    Job description of the Contract Physician:

    The physician will primarily work on-site in a secure, controlled environment. Interaction with inmates and coordination with correctional staff is required. The role may involve occasional travel to other Department of Corrections facilities.

    Responsibilities of the Contract Physician:

    • Medical Care Delivery:
      • Conduct physical examinations and provide general medical services.
      • Diagnose and treat a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions.
      • Prescribe medications following the Department’s formulary and justify variances as needed.
      • Review and interpret X-rays, lab results, and other diagnostic tests.
    • Medical Records Management:
      • Record detailed medical notes, including symptoms, diagnoses, treatment plans, and medications.
      • Ensure all medical documentation complies with regulatory standards and facility policies.
    • Consultation and Referrals:
      • Collaborate with the Department’s Office of Health Services for case reviews and guidance.
      • Refer inmates to specialists when medically necessary.
    • Emergency and Employee Care:
      • Provide emergency medical services within the facility or local hospitals.
      • Perform required employee health services, such as physical exams and emergency care.
    • Scheduling and Coverage:
      • Maintain a consistent schedule, providing a monthly calendar in advance.
      • Coordinate with approved alternate providers to ensure uninterrupted services during absences.
    • Compliance and Professional Standards:
      • Adhere to all Department of Corrections and facility-specific policies, including confidentiality and professional conduct.
      • Notify the Department of any changes in licensure, hospital privileges, or malpractice issues.
    • Availability and Flexibility:
      • Provide 24-hour on-call coverage for emergencies as required.
      • Be available for additional hours and visits to other Department of Corrections facilities if requested and pre-approved.
