    About the Role

    As the Controller, you’ll be instrumental in overseeing all accounting and finance functions. This role combines strategic financial oversight with hands-on management, focusing on regulatory compliance, team leadership, and business strategy.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Establish and maintain efficient accounting procedures and systems
    • Deliver timely financial reviews and status updates
    • Lead all accounting operational functions, including A/R, A/P, and cash management
    • Oversee the preparation of internal and external financial statements
    • Manage payroll and benefit program administration
    • Hire, manage, and develop accounting team members to foster retention and growth
    • Recommend economic strategies, objectives, and policies to management
    • Identify and mitigate financial risks
    • Support management with data-driven decision-making
    • Manage budgeting and assist in annual business planning
    • Advise on operational changes due to tax code updates
    • Prepare comprehensive reports on business activity and financial position
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, including tax planning and reporting
    • Advise on insurance coverage to improve financial performance
    • Compute overhead rates in compliance with FAR
    • Establish relationships with banks and financial institutions
    • Coordinate with external auditors and tax preparers
    • Perform other related duties as needed

    Skills & Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
    • CPA certification required
    • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP, FAR, and financial regulations
    • Proficiency with accounting software and financial analysis tools
    • Excellent leadership and management skills
    • Demonstrated integrity and trustworthiness
    • Ability to mentor and develop a team of accounting professionals
    • Adaptable to changing business environments and technologies
    • Effective collaboration with diverse staff

    Preferred Qualifications

    • MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting
    • Additional certifications such as CMA
    • Experience in the AEC/Civil Engineering Consulting industry
    • Proficiency with ADP Workforce NOW and Deltek Ajera

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    • Assign tasks, communicate effectively, provide feedback, recognize achievements, and manage team dynamics
    • Demonstrate strong leadership to balance individual needs with department and organizational goals

  • Compensation
    $145,000-$165,000 per year
