  • Responsibilities

    The Controller’s primary mission is to maintain the accuracy of all financial records, oversee timely agent commission payments, and provide financial reports to company leadership. By reconciling accounts, managing budgets, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards, this role ensures the real estate company operates efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities: • Oversee the Accounting Clerk and commission processor to ensure responsibilities are completed accurately and on time. • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements, and manage credit limits. • Prepare and present financial reports including forecasting for company leaders to support strategic decision-making. • Set, monitor, and adjust budgets as needed. • Ensure all bills and expenses are paid promptly and accurately. • Provide guidance on asset depreciation, expense classification, and general ledger adjustments. • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls. • Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring timely and accurate provision of required information. • Ensure regulatory and tax compliance, including accurate and timely filing of federal, state, and local taxes. • Oversee cash flow planning to ensure funds are available as needed. • Identify and manage financial risks, including currency exchange, interest rates, and investment strategies. • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop financial strategies and achieve long-term financial goals. • Monitor and enhance efficiencies within accounting processes, addressing gaps and areas for improvement within the first six months. Qualifications: Team Dynamics • Reports to the President of the company. • Manages the Accounting Clerk and commissions processing team. • Collaborates closely with the COO and Executive Assistant. Technical Skills & Qualifications • Proficiency in QuickBooks, and Excel. We use a Real Estate Platform. • In-depth knowledge of GAAP. • CPA certification is a bonus but not required. • Minimum 10+ years of accounting experience , with prior management experience preferred. • Experience in setting up general ledgers and budgets is required. • Prior real estate experience is a plus but not mandatory. Soft Skills • Analytical and adaptable personality, with the ability to problem-solve and find process improvements. • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively manage team members and communicate with leadership. Compensation: $65,000 — $85,000 DOE
