    About: Global Animal Products (GAP) is an animal nutrition feed additive manufacturer specializing in chelated trace minerals based in Amarillo, Texas. We are a small business with a global footprint and have been in business for 30 years+. GAP manufactures and markets its products both here in the U.S. and internationally. Here at GAP, we consider ourselves vertically integrated. We manufacture and transport products in our own trucks (U.S.) fleet, design and install application systems, and maintain these GAP-owned systems at our customers' facilities.

    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a Controller to join our team. In this role, you will monitor the company’s financial status and accounting policies, review budgets, perform inventory management reconciliations, and ensure payments are submitted in a timely fashion. This essential position ensures our company is compliant with all accounting regulations, mitigates risks, and maximizes profits. The ideal candidate is an experienced Controller with excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

    Role and Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Performs general ledger account and bank statement reconciliations, prepares journal entries, creating and maintains periodic reporting, and assisting the preparation of various financial reporting tasks

    Responsible for A/R and A/P activities – including invoicing customers and processing received checks

    Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes by reconciling accounts, analyzing transactions, and making adjusting journal entries as necessary

    Performs monthly inventory review and reconciliation with physical plant inventory

    Oversee and perform as-needed payroll activities

    Ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded, filed, and reported

    Prepare and publish timely consolidated monthly financial statements

    Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements

    Support external tax consultants and provide timely information as needed for business tax filings

    Work with external auditors and audits (financial and insurance), providing all needed information to ensure proper completion

    Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications and Education Requirements:

    Degree in Accounting or Finance

    7+ years of accounting experience

    Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process

    Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions: Manufacturing and Wholesale

    Familiar with working in multiple companies

    Knowledge with Inventory Management Reconciliation and Adjustments within QuickBooks

    Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

    Highly proficient computer skills in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook

    Self-starter, motivated and works well with a team

    Preferred Skills:

    CPA License

    Excellent accounting software user and administration skills

    Extensive understanding of taxation

    Exceptional communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

    Initiative and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently

    Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills

    Can read, write, and communicate in Spanish
