    Bring your construction accounting expertise to a leading homebuilder in the Pacific Northwest. With over 25 years serving Oregon and Washington, our client is a premier custom homebuilder seeking a seasoned, detail-oriented Controller to lead financial operations. In this role, you will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic planning—ensuring compliance with industry standards while enhancing financial efficiency.

    The ideal candidate has robust construction accounting experience, with deep knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, and overall financial strategy.

    Controller Responsibilities:

    Financial Oversight & Reporting

    • Enforce operating procedures and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP
    • Report financial results, oversee job costing, revenue recognition, and lead month-end close processes with Corporate Accounting.
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and business opportunities.

    Department Leadership & Strategic Planning

    • Direct daily activities of the accounting department, including supervising and mentoring staff.
    • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and the preparation of financial projections to support business goals.
    • Oversee all corporate accounting functions, including accounts receivable/payable, payroll, franchise royalty payments, rebate tracking, and shared services billing.

    Operational Excellence & Compliance

    • Oversee accounts payable, ensuring adherence to expense reporting, capitalization policies, and purchase order procedures.
    • Handle banking activities, audits, tax filings, and manage external financial relationships.
    • Utilize computerized accounting systems effectively and stay current on industry trends, regulatory updates, and best practices to improve processes and compliance.

    Controller Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
    • At least 5 years of experience as a Controller, preferably in homebuilding or construction.
    • Proficiency in construction accounting software.
    • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
    • Multi-state corporate tax and sales tax knowledge (WA & OR a plus).
    • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

    Compensation: $125,000 - $150,000 (DOE)
