    Monzingo Legal Recruiting has partnered with a law firm in Naples, Florida, on their Controller position. The Controller is responsible for accounting operations and related controls, including the production of periodic financial reports and maintenance of a system of accounting records. This is an onsite position.

    This position sets comprehensive controls, secures and enhances the accuracy of the firm’s reported financial results, and ensures that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and US financial reporting standards.

    This position is responsible for managing, reviewing, and overseeing all accounting policies and procedures, including non-transactional accounting activities, as well as financial operations processes and duties, including general ledger, account payables, account receivables, forecasting, budgets, and cash management.

    The Controller will utilize the firm’s time, billing, and accounting software to record transactions and prepare reports as directed by the partners.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions, including general ledger, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and trust accounting functions for the Law Office.
    • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
    • Design and maintain a coherent system of accounts with supporting physical and digital filing systems.
    • Provide owner and senior management with management reports regarding performance against financial plans, forecasts, and cost-benefit analyses.
    • Develop and maintain short and long-term financial plans, and operating benchmarks, budgets, and forecasts.
    • Create and maintain financial models for various aspects of the businesses.
    • Manage and maintain month-end closing processes.
    • Planning the expenditures, analyzing variances, and carrying out necessary corrections that may arise.
    • Maintain bank relationships including complying with loan agreements and assisting with the preparation of the necessary documents.
    • Establish and monitor procedures for record-keeping.
    • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.
    • Ensure security, integrity, and confidentiality of data.
    • Assists the firm’s fractional CFO with the timely preparation and filing of tax returns.
    • Make recommendations to management on cost savings to the Firm.
    • Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.

    Education and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
    • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a law firm.
    • Must be proficient in GAAP accounting, methods, and best practices.
    • Must be proficient in QuickBooks and other law firm software.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
    Compensation

    $120,000 - $140,000 DOE, plus benefits
