Company Overview:
Northline Seafoods is a growing, innovative seafood processing company headquartered in the Fairhaven neighborhood of Bellingham, WA. We are expanding our finance department and are looking for a finance professional to lead daily operation efficiencies for our accounting department.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the company's operational accounting, ensuring smooth functioning of day-to-day operations.
• Provide direct supervision and mentorship to a team of 3-4 accounting staff.
• Supervise the preparation of financial reports by the accounting team, ensuring financial statements are GAAP compliant.
• Ensure accuracy in expense tracking, journals and the general ledger.
• Collaborate with other departments to minimize expenses through cost controls and budget tracking.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and provide required reporting requirements.
• Develop and implement financial systems, policies, and procedures.
• Plan, organize, and managing operational and financial audits.
• Coordinate with external auditors to prepare and submit audited financial statements.
• Identify areas of inefficiency, proposing new strategies to tackle them.
• Provide financial analysis and supporting executives in making informed decisions.
• Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
• Review and ensure proper inventory valuation, with validation and comparison of standard costs to actual costs.
• Establish budgeting process and procedures for all functions coordinates development of department budgets with managers.
• Fill in gaps for accounting team when/if needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related fields. Master's Degree, CPA license or other specialized education a plus.
• Minimum 5 years experience working in finance, accounting or a related field.
• Candidate must have experience and knowledge with manufacturing/inventory accounting.
• Ideal candidate has experience managing operations and finances in a start-up/growth environment, as well as providing supervision to a small accounting team.
• Willingness and ability to approach work with an all-hands-on deck attitude.
Compensation & Benefits:
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Benefits include 4 weeks PTO, 8 paid holidays and medical/dental/vision.
