Position Summary:
Responsible for the organization’s overall financial plans, policies and accounting practices for the recording and maintenance of the fiscal records and financial reporting according to GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles). Direct all accounting activity including general, property, revenue, payrolls, cost accounting, budgetary control and operational reporting. Has responsibility for risk management (insurance), treasury (banking) relationships and required tax reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement policies, procedures and internal controls.
Manage the relationship with outside CPA.
Monitor and analyze financial accounting data.
Create financial reports based on data analysis.
Member of the executive team.
Bank account reconciliations.
Establish and maintain schedules for timely monthly closings and preparation of financial statements.
Responsible for compiling the annual budget. Works with other department managers to create budgets for their respective departments.
Manage cash flow requirements.
Manage customer credit and collection activities.
Establish standard costs of manufactured goods.
Advise management on appropriate costing variance to standard.
Oversee the accounts receivable and accounts payable activities.
Travel as required to support the business functions.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work descried herein as directed.
Education/Experience Requirements
· BA Degree in Accounting or equivalent amount of education and work experience · 10 years experience in all aspects of accounting · 2 – 3 years proven supervisory experience with strong leadership skills
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong analytical, strategic planning and communication skills
Must possess good time management skills
Knowledge of GAAP
Proficient in MS Office Applications
Excellent attention to detail
Must be able to handle stressful situations
Able to maintain confidential information
Physical Requirements
Finger, hand and arm dexterity necessary for data entry
Close visual acuity is necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures and when viewing computer terminal.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required for communicating with internal and external public
Listening skills are crucial for communicating
Ability to sit for extended periods of time
