Controller - Plantation Bay Golf & Country Clun & Amelia National Golf and Country Club
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This position is responsible for exercising discretion and independent judgment to direct, oversee, and ensure completion of accounting and financial activities for the company’s golf clubs and affiliated operations. Assists Management in ensuring the achievement of operational goals and planning business growth. Accounting and operational duties include but are not limited to the following: A. Complete GAAP financial statements including but not limited to balance sheets, statements of profit and loss, statements of cash flows, and statements of equity B. Prepare, examine and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards C. Assist with the process of establishing and monitoring the annual business plan a. Provide budget vs. actual explanations regularly D. Coordinate, direct and monitor the financial reporting, procurement, and investment activities of the clubs E. Advise General Manager and CFO on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions F. Prepare Monthly/Quarterly/Yearly Journal Entries and reports G. Payroll and Sales Tax Reporting H. Ensure timely collection of Member Receivables, including working with collection agencies I. Analyze club financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed J. Monitor financial activities and details, including cash management, to ensure that all legal, regulatory, and operational requirements are met K. Coordinate with auditors to complete the annual audit, including preparing schedules and analysis L. Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards M. Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting for club N. Work as a key member of the Company’s finance team to assist the Company in reaching targeted goals O. Coordinate and act as liaison for the accounting department and other departments P. Manage Leases according to new GAAP standards and provide analysis for management Q. Perform other accounting duties for clubs and affiliates as assigned
II. RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Ability to utilize judgment in decision making process and decisions related to job tasks B. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, methods and procedures C. Requires considerable knowledge of general banking policies and procedures, a thorough knowledge of business administration principles and skills in financial management D. Communicates ideas and/or position on a variety of issues both verbally and in written form in a clear, concise, and professional manner E. Report to CFO and Club Management: a. Monthly business plan variance status b. Membership updates and receivables c. Inventory Controls and Accounting

IV. LICENSES, EDUCATION OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: A. Strong analytical, statistical, and problem solving skills B. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred C. 6 years of general accounting experience D. Advanced level of proficiency with Excel, and basic knowledge of Word E. Experience with Jonas (or other golf club operating software) preferred
