Position Summary:
The Controller is responsible for the bank’s overall accounting department, functions, & operations. Responsibilities include accounting operations and controls, financial reporting and reconciliation, and tax and audit coordination.
Duties and Responsibilities
Fosters a control environment that ensures the accuracy and integrity of bank financial statements and related reporting.
Creates and/or verifies any and all financial reporting (internal and external) for the bank, its parent company and any subsidiaries. Including but not limited to: FFIEC, FDIC, OCC, Federal Reserve, FHLB, IRS, WI-DOR, etc.)
Prepares audit-ready GAAP compliant financial statements annually and works closely with CFO, Internal Auditors, and external auditors in the auditing of such financial statements.
Assures the timely and accurate closing of financial statement reporting on a monthly basis and is responsible for the integrity and maintenance of the general ledger
Leads bank tax reporting and planning including deferred tax accounting and working with external accounting firm in the completion and filing of income tax returns.
Leads and manages the bank’s fixed asset reporting and related process and systems.
Proactively researches and appropriately interprets changing accounting and financial reporting guidance by FASBm FFIEC, and other necessary sources to ensure the accurate reporting and representation of bank financial statements and condition.
Assists CFO in annual budgeting process and other accounting related project work as necessary.
Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of bank’s entire reconciliation process and results.
Works with CFO in daily liquidity and cash management.
Supervises the Accounting Assistant.
Trains, develops, and coaches accounting and other applicable staff members in proper accounting controls, processes, and procedures.
Review and approve accounts payable utilizing accounting software.
Review general ledger reference maintenance.
Follow procedures and policies that ensure compliance with not only Bank policies and procedures, but also all applicable federal and state banking regulatory agency policies.
Comply with bank standards for attendance and hours of work.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or relevant field.
CPA or equivalent education/experience preferred.
6+ years of applicable experience in bank accounting department required.

Travel:
Valid driver’s license required for travel to Bank offices, training sessions, customer meetings, Bank and community meetings, etc.
