About the Company:

The next Controller will play a key role in shaping financial strategy, ensuring compliance, and supporting the executive team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Oversight: Prepare monthly financials and management reports and oversee percent of completion (PoC) accounting.
- Audit & Compliance: Lead annual audits and ensure full compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and industry-specific requirements.
- Payroll & Union Reporting: Process in-house payroll, including W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, and all tax deposits. Manage union payroll reporting and contributions.
- Certified Payroll & Prevailing Wage Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely certified payroll processing in alignment with prevailing wage laws and public works reporting.
- Billing & Lien Management: Oversee project billing, lien releases, and payment applications to ensure proper documentation and cash flow management.
- Job Costing & Budgeting: Work closely with project managers and executive leadership to monitor job costs, budgets, and financial performance.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial operations, improve reporting accuracy, and enhance overall efficiency.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of accounting experience within the construction industry, preferably in public works.
- Strong knowledge of certified payroll processing, prevailing wage compliance, and union payroll reporting.
- Expertise in percent of completion accounting and construction billing.
- Understanding of lien laws and release processes in construction.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Viewpoint, Sage 300, Procore, or similar construction ERP systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred but not required).
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
