Job Description
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will oversee all accounting operations at Texarkana Funeral Home, Inc., ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial records. This role is responsible for managing financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, and compliance with regulations. The Controller will lead the accounting team and ensure that day-to-day financial operations align with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage and supervise day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
· Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow).
· Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
· Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
· Coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process.
Mentor and develop the accounting team to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy.
· Assist with strategic financial planning and contribute to business decision-making processes.
Skills and Qualifications
· 7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
· Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements (GAAP).
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuites).
· Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex accounting processes.
· Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to develop and lead a high-performing team.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
