  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

    The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting functions within the organization, with a focus on the food manufacturing sector. This includes the management of financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Controller will provide strategic financial insights to support the company’s growth objectives and operational efficiency.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    Financial Reporting & Analysis:

    • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

    • Analze financial data and provide insights to senior management for decision-making.

    • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.

    Budgeting & Forecasting:

    • Develop and manage the annual budget, including forecasting and variance analysis.

    • Work closely with department heads to ensure alignment with financial goals.

    Cost Accounting:

    • Oversee the cost accounting function, ensuring accurate product costing and inventory valuation.

    • Analyze production costs and identify areas for cost reduction and process improvements.

    Compliance & Risk Management:

    • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including GAAP and food industry-specific requirements.

    • Manage internal controls and audit processes to mitigate financial risks.

    Team Leadership:

    • Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and development opportunities.

    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance department.

    Strategic Planning:

    • Collaborate with the CFO and executive team to develop and execute financial strategies that support the company’s long-term goals.

    • Provide financial insights to support business growth, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.

    • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within the food manufacturing industry.

    • Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles, specifically within a manufacturing environment.

    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.

    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

    • Strong communication and leadership abilities.

     

    Preferred Skills:

    • Experience with inventory management and supply chain finance.

    • Familiarity with food industry regulations and compliance requirements.

    • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and their financial impact.

     

    Working Conditions:

    • Office environment within a manufacturing facility.

    • Occasional travel may be required to other company locations or for industry-related events.
