We are seeking a skilled and motivated Controls Engineer to design, build, and install turnkey control systems. This role demands a self-reliant engineer with strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to tackle unique challenges across diverse industries, including automotive, chemical, manufacturing, food & beverage, pulp & paper, and wood products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical control panels for machines and automation systems.
- Create and implement PLC and HMI programs tailored to project needs.
- Ensure compliance with current safety standards in all designs and systems.
- Commission and troubleshoot VFDs, motor controls, and servo motor applications.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP and Profinet.
- Lead projects from inception to completion, including budget management, scheduling, and customer communication.
- Oversee system installation and startup, ensuring operational excellence.
- (Preferred) Program and integrate industrial robots, such as FANUC systems.
- Interpret, modify, and develop mechanical and electrical drawings.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred; will consider other related fields.
- Proven expertise in PLC programming, with a preference for Allen Bradley/Rockwell and GE/Emerson platforms.
- Hands-on experience with motor controls, including motor starters, VFDs, and DC drives.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting and modifying HMI components, control network components, and automated equipment.
- Proficiency in interpreting and developing technical drawings and schematics.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with industrial robotics programming (e.g., FANUC).
- Background in vision systems and custom manufacturing equipment is a plus.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel is required (approximately 25%).
