    Position Overview

    We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to enhance automation systems through the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of control hardware and software. The successful candidate will lead the creation of detailed control system documentation, drive capital projects, and develop comprehensive training programs to elevate workforce competency in automation technologies.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Control System Design & Documentation:
    * Create and design control systems for continuous and batch processes.
    
    * Develop detailed specifications for process instrumentation, variable frequency drives, control valves, and associated hardware.
    
    * Produce comprehensive documentation, including process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), loop wiring diagrams, control specifications, manuals, PLC programs, and HMI configurations.
    
    • System Optimization & Troubleshooting:
    * Optimize existing control systems for peak efficiency through detailed needs assessments and proactive troubleshooting.
    
    * Implement alarm management standards to ensure timely and accurate alerts, contributing to overall system reliability and safety.
    
    • Capital Project Management:
    * Plan, execute, and oversee automation capital projects, ensuring projects meet allocated budgets and schedules.
    
    * Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to evaluate and recommend equipment specifications and improvements.
    
    • Training & Workforce Development:
    * Develop and maintain a comprehensive training program aimed at equipping employees with necessary control system skills.
    
    * Create training materials and conduct sessions to continuously improve the operational knowledge of end users.
    
    * Assess training program effectiveness and implement enhancements based on evolving operational needs.
    
    • Technology Integration & Upgrades:
    * Upgrade computer hardware and optimize software applications and networking systems to enhance operational capabilities.
    
    * Maintain detailed documentation of all system changes and upgrades.
    
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support:
    * Work closely with factory maintenance staff, engineers, and other stakeholders to analyze equipment and troubleshoot processes.
    
    * Provide support during factory startups, coordinating with contractors and operational teams to ensure a smooth transition to production.
    
    • Additional Duties:
    * Travel as necessary to various industrial and agricultural locations; a valid driver’s license is required.
    

    Qualifications

    • Education:
    * Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
    
    • Experience:
    * Extensive industrial experience in control systems engineering, including familiarity with Distributed Control Systems (e.g., DeltaV), PLC programming, and HMI design.
    
    * Proven track record of managing automation and capital projects, with strong project management skills.
    
    • Technical Skills:
    * Proficiency in using CAD and other computer drafting/design software for process modeling.
    
    * Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components within industrial control systems.
    
    * Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
    
    • Communication & Organizational Skills:
    * Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and organize workloads.
    

    Salary info:

    $50 - $63 / hr
