Responsibilities as a Controls Engineering Intern :

• Work with an electrical equipment build team - hands-on education for the student to learn the techniques, tools and equipment involved in the construction of electrical control system hardware including main control panels, HMI panels, motor control panels. Demonstrated and supervised by seasoned electricians.

• Validate electrical documentation – verify schematics accuracy, correct as necessary and implement corrections. Ensure document archive(s) are up to date.

• Partial or complete design of an electrical control system including creation of electrical schematics using AutoCAD.

• Partial or complete programming of PLC and HMI programs for a new equipment installation or like modifications to an existing equipment installation.

• Support a production operation by assisting engineering or maintenance personnel involved in equipment failure troubleshooting, repair or replacement.

• Begin to understand motor control configuration for servo, variable frequency and DC systems.

• Robot programming and/or maintenance – hands-on learning for the student to get a basic understanding of a robotic system, teach pendant operations, path programming and configuration.
