Job Title: Controls Engineer (Contract 2 Hire)

Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a Controls Engineer to join our team on a temporary basis. Under the direction of the Controls Engineering and Maintenance Manager, the Controls Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting all aspects of electrical and electro-mechanical control systems, equipment, and machinery. This position requires independent judgment and relies on instructions, experience, and pre-established guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and troubleshoot PLC and PC-based electrical and electromechanical control systems, equipment, and machinery
- Design, develop, implement, and modify PLC-based hardware and software
- Provide technical support for PLC hardware and software, coordinating as needed
- Troubleshoot extruders, materials systems, facility power distribution systems, and other electrical or electro-mechanical systems
- Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and other industrial systems
- Provide training to departmental technicians as required
- Be available for “on-call” support as needed
- Prepare purchase orders for parts and supplies
- Perform tasks in a safe manner and adhere to all safety policies and best practices
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas (6S)
- Follow clean-up and housekeeping procedures (6S) for the production floor, shipping & receiving office, and warehouse
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechatronics engineering
- 3-5 years of experience in the Controls Engineering field
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, best practices, and procedures within the Controls Engineering field
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds consistently, with heavier weights required at times
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands/fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls in an office/production environment
- Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
Pay:
Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually
This is a salary position, and the Controls Engineer will be on-call as needed.
